Data Files stored on NAS

I’m having a play with Data Files and whether this would be a good replacement fro my local folders. At first glance this seems like a good way to go , by having a more versatile local folder that is stored on my NAS and both my Workstation and Laptop can access it.

It seems to work ok if I unmount the data file and then mount it on the other machine, i.e. hand it back and forth between Laptop and Workstation. Emclient freezes however if I have it open on both machines make a change on one and upon trying to refresh it I unmount on the other machine, Emclient then hangs.
OK perhaps you cannot edit it on both machines and I need to unmount on one to mount on the other , but I’ll forget to do this one day…

There needs to be some protection against getting into this state.
The end result is it corrupting the Data File.

Yes you normally need to unmount data files before you mount the same data file on another computer, or you can risk corruption due to the data file is already open on the first computer.
