CSV contact import not for all fields

In my workflow I frequently update my contacts from a third party programme via a csv file.I noticed some problems:

  1. For contact management the “notes” field is essential. It cannot be imported
  2. There is not way to map multiple email fields
  3. Other custom fields cannot be mapped either
  4. The CSV file has a header row. emClient does not recognize (or does not use) this row. In
addition to this: it would be handy if emClient could remember my field mapping
  5. The window, used for import and field mapping, cannot be resized. Not handy
  6. In outlook I was using different maps of contacts of a different category (work, private, etc.)
This reflects my setup in iCloud and syncs perfectly.
When importing contacts into outlook they can be imported directly into the correct map.
In emClient the mapping of the sync to iCloud is via distribution lists.
These cannot be imported directly via csv (or can they?). First I have to import the contacts and

then manually (uggh) map them into the distribution list(s)

Hi, unfortunately it is not possible to import csv contact lists as distribution lists. Currently it is not currently possible to add a secondary email address using the CSV import either, however we’ve included this feature on our todo list for future updates of the application, as this is really a missing option.

You can manually select the fields if the header row can not recognize the items using the CSV import window, however sometimes the header fields can not be detected due to incorrect formatting of the header row, as the application does include the option to detect the fields.

“But wait, are you wondering about your data on the other email client? Don’t worry one bit about that because we’ve made it easy for you to import _ all _ [emphasis mine] of your data.” (http://www.emclient.com/blog/transfer-all-data-from-your-current-email-client-to-em-client-easily-85) Well, maybe not. (For better truth in advertising, might I suggest that the Web page should say “records” instead of “data”?)

I don’t need to import contacts regularly, but I was frequently using Outlook’s equivalent of the Notes field and multiple phone and email fields, as well as occasional other fields, some of which are not found in eM Client at all (like “anniversary”). I would like ALL of eM Client’s contact fields available for mapping. Having to copy and paste manually into eM Client should not be necessary if there is actually a corresponding field.

For those fields that are simply not found in eM Client, it would be nice if I could append their data onto the “Notes” field (or perhaps another field?)

What you CAN do goes very smoothly. As a test I imported 4,200+ contacts, some of which had bad data, and eM Client handled it quite well. (Fortunately the overwhelming-large amount of contact data is a friend’s, not mine

Hello, not completely sure what you’re suggesting, Anniversary fields and other fields are available in the contact’s details to edit, see screenshot.

All these fields can also be imported and exported to CSV, by including them in the columns configuration in your contacts folder.

Hope this helps,
