Creating New Email Account How to enter port numbers

My email provider has changed server settings for greater security.
This requires manual entry of the server parameters including port number.
I can enter the server details but, for the life of me, I just cannot find how to enter the newly specified port numbers.

If I leave it to eM Client to set the port numbers invisibly, it returns an error and Fix option is unsuccessful. And yes, I have double-checked the server name.
The parameters work for clients like Outlook, Mac Mail etc.
Why cant eM Client just have the simple expedient of entering the port data manually?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

just cannot find how to enter the newly specified port numbers.

Go to “Menu / Accounts” and then “click on your account on the left” and then “click on the tabs along the top” to change the incoming and outgoing mail ports and security policies etc.

These are the SMTP server settings you can use in eM Client.

SMTP
Port 587 = Force usage of SSL/TLS
Port 465 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Port 25 = Use SSL/TLS if available

I’ve seen the 3 settings you’ve listed.
I am required to use STARTTLS.
All my other parameters are correct.
It looks like eM Client hasn’t made provision for this.

It is available in Outlook and Mac Mail.

Yes eM Client already supports STARTTLS in the Port 587 settings I gave you.

So if you carn’t send mail with that SMTP setting, then must be another reason why it’s not sending, and we would need to know error messages.

Click the drop-down arrow on the right of Refresh top left and then click “Show Operations” and then click the “Log” tab and look for any obvious error messages and paste them in this thread. We might then be able to see what’s wrong. Blank out anything personal.

Also who is your mailbox hosted with or send mail through ? What’s your SMTP Server address ?

What version of eM Client are you using ?
