There are some definite bugs in this program. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and when I tried to import from Outlook 2010 there was an “exception trying to import data” and when I tried to import from Windows Live Mail the program crashed.
Hi, do you have the WLM and Outlook installed on the PCs that you’re trying to import?
I have a similar issue:
running Windows7 Ultimate (64bit)
Outlook 2007
Trying to move over to eM Client… but the option to import does nothing other than report that: (either)
- Microsoft outlook is NOT installed on the computer.
-or- - Outlook is NOT the default email client. (Please make default and try again.)
Please tell me there is a simple solution as I would LOVE to get away from Outlook and use the eM client.

It improved compatiblity for import, and no longer requires Outlook to read the proprietary PST files.
