Since I updated eMClient a few days ago, I no longer have my listing of contacts, its completely empty. Is there an easy way of re-instating them or do I have to add each separately.

Go to Menu > Settings > General > General and make sure that Show Local Folders is selected.
Then go to the contacts section of eM Client, and click on the Local Folders Contacts folder.
If not, and they are synced with a server, click on the Contacts folder for that account listed there.

I’ve done as you said but contacts are not there, however, in yahoo, they are, so how to I get them across to eM Client, do I need to adjust a setting somewhere.

As they are in your Yahoo contacts online, you could “export your Yahoo contacts” to a vCard (.vcf) format and then import that into eM Client contacts. See the below info.
To import a vCard (.vcf) file into eM Client, click “Menu / File / Import”
Then click “Contacts as vCard (.vcf)” and click Next…
Then “Select folder” from which you want to import the vCard (.vcf) file from, and the “folder you want to store contacts” in at the bottom.
Lastly click “Finish".
