Connection problems all over the place with a VPN.

Hi,

first of all, I really like eM Client and I have been using it for several years.

Since a few weeks, two of my accounts cannot connect when NordVPN is running. Hold on! Outlook connects fine to one of the accounts (Hotmail). My third account (EWS) connects fine with eM Client. One of the accounts that does not connect with eM Client is Hotmail, the other is a standard IMAP+SMTP. None is using unsecure ports like 25. From the diagnostic tab in the Accounts menu, I see that one of the IMAP servers does not respond, however, I can ping it all-right from the command line.

So you see, problems all over the place that I had never had since a few weeks ago. The problem is NOT the VPN because other mail clients work fine. The problem is NOT the server because it responds and works with other clients.

Any suggestion? Have you updated anything in the past few weeks that might be the cause of such issues? Would it be helpful to re-install the app (and download all my mail again, with is tens of GB…)?

Thank you,
Andrea

Since a few weeks, two of my accounts cannot connect when NordVPN is running.

VPNs can interfere with mail clients so “if eM Client works ok without Nord VPN running” then you need to contact your VPN provider to see “how to configure it” to allow eM Client to work.

If you have already configured NordVPN to allow eM Client, then it could be the eg: "VPN server you are connecting to, and you might need to try the different Nord VPN global servers, as might be a VPN routing issue. If you have tried all of them, then you will need to contact Nord VPN support.

Ps Some other users on this forum such as @skybat use eg: Open VPN and Surfshark VPN which they say work fine “once configured correctly”, so you may want to check out those.
