Connection Failed on hotmail and gmail

Hello.

So I now have had this Connection Failed problem on eM Client for almost a week. I cannot connect to my hotmail or gmail account. I just get this warning sign next to both emails and it says:

"Connection failed

An attempt to connect to xxx@email.com failed. This could be caused by temporary server unavailability or incorrect settings. Please check the settings or click on the warning symbol to try connecting again."

I tried deleting and re-adding both accounts, don’t work. I checked same kind of problems and but didn’t find anything conclusive.

Any ideas?

Have you tried temporarily turning off your VPN and antivirus software?

Hmm… Turning off the antivirus software seems to do the trick. Although I don’t get it why. eM Client is added to the exceptions and it hasn’t stopped it working before.

Which antivirus software are you using?

Avast. I did some searching and it is caused by this Mail Shield. With this info though I can get eM Client working again. Thanks for the help.
