Connecting to (email address) failed

Hi I have eM Client installed as my Microsoft package didn’t have Outlook.  It’s been working fine for months although did keep showing an error message about connection, but now I am getting the following message: 

IMAP An attempt to connect to (email address) failed. This could be caused by temporary server unavailability or incorrect settings.

The settings are the same as on my iphone on which I can send and receive messages fine.  However on my pc I can send emails but can’t receive any.

Any advice?

Hi Liz, can you please go to Tools > Accounts > Your account > SMTP and make a screenshot of your account SMTP settings?
Also when the error occurs, can you please switch to the Log tab in the operations window and copy the content of the log and post it here on the forum?

What version of eM Client are you currently using? What mail service provider are you using? Are you using any firewall/proxy/antivirus software on your computer?
