If you’re in any window other than the Main window, CMD+N does nothing. If I’ve opened a message in a child window, or I’m composing a message, but need to start another one, I have to switch back to the Main window before I can CMD+N to start a new message.
CMD+N should open a new Compose window 100% of the time, app-wide.
There are two sections in shortcut settings. The first section is for shortcuts in the Main UI, where you can start a new item using ⌘N, or when you are not in the message section of eM Client, you can use ⇧⌘M for a new message. Those shortcuts are for the Main UI only.
There isn’t a keyboard shortcut to start a new message once you are already in the compose window. Sorry.
Understood. And I’m saying that’s a shortcoming. CMD+N should open a new compose window, regardless of where you are in the app. There’s no reason to not have CMD+N work this way. There’s no benefit to be gained by this shortcoming. I can’t think of a single other email app that forces users to stop what they’re doing and return to the main window just to start a new email. It’s bad UX.
