I really dislike the change in the search function. I need to search just certain directories. I don’t want to search “all mail” automatically. I understand that you wanted this function to act more as gmail does, but that’s not why I use emclient. If I wanted that function, I would just use gmail. I’m really unhappy with this change.
You can change the default of what folders are searched. Click on the down-arrow at the right side of the search box. It allows several options, including custom. The settings seem to stick when emc is closed and reopened.

just as Jay describes, you can change the Search scope and other setting by opening the Search drop-down menu.
