let’s say I want to integrate the chat like Rocket.Chat or Slack and someone writes me a message. I can highlight this information via Settings->Notifications->“IM Messages”.
However, if I have turned this off or am not at my desk, I would of course like to see information within the emClient when I return.
If I now use the icon in the bottom left of the email area, I cannot see that there is anything new in the chat area. And if I am in the chat area, I cannot see that new emails have arrived in the email area.
My suggestion would be that you change the icon color for new emails and display a small number with the unread emails. The same for the chat button.
definitely agree. I use the email function mainly so will be on this window, however would want to see if chat messages have arrived and are unread. A visual indicator as suggested would be very welcome as currently too many messages would be missed without frequent manual checking.

Now that Rocket Chat is working, I’d like to use it too, but unfortunately, I miss the new messages.
Only the tray icon flashes when a new chat opens. It would be really great if we had a visual highlight here. For example, as already mentioned, a number of unread messages in the tab icon and at least a colored highlight in the member rows.
As you can see in the image here, it’s not clear which person a new message has just arrived from, so I have to click through each one.
