Change Calendar Color trys to Rename Calendar with error

On eM Client 6.0.19714.0 with Account Type “Outlook.com”, i have some Calendars initialy with some random Color. If i now change this Color, to resample the Color on Outlook.com WebView, i get a Error. It seems, that emClient trys ro rename the Calendar.

Errorlog:
17:57:16 Outlook.com [AirSync] Der Ordner ‘Outlook.com/Sebastians Kalender/’ wird auf den Server hochgeladen
17:57:17 Outlook.com [AirSync] MailExceptions.OperationException: Das Umbenennen von Outlook.com/Sebastians Kalender/ ist fehlgeschlagen mit folgendem Fehler: AlreadyExists (2).

Hi, we know about this issue, problem is that Airsync protocol does not support creating and renaming custom folder feom external clients.

To get rid of this message all you have to do is to remove and add your account again, you can use file - export… or file - backup… to backup your data, but Airsync protocol keeps all data on server so the should be resynchronized after you will add your account again.

Most important thing is - do not rename or create folders after that, we will release soon update which will prevent this automatically.

Hmm i have tested some of your Betas, there was not such a Problem. There i could setup a custom color for every calendar. After the change, i had no Sync Issues.

Since im very intrested in testing (because im a ISTQB certified Tester), i could help you testing a new Version, before you release it. If you want, you could send me a email with a url to the latest beta.

I am also having this problem. If I use the solution of deleting and then recreating the account I assume that the calendar colours will reset to their default values again. So any further changes to the colours will throw up the error again?

Yes, thats the point. You will have the same problem, if you re-create the Account and change the Color again.

Thought so. Thanks for your reply, I think I’ll put up with the error message until they come up with a fix. I like having the calendar colours set specifically so I’ll just have to lump it!

Regards

Fix is on the way, it will simply prevent any changes so this error will not be possible to recreate.

Jan

does that mean that the fix will stop us changing the colour of the calendars?

it should, because as I have written before "problem is that Airsync protocol does not support creating and renaming custom folder from external clients. "

Jan

Sorry to be thick but all I want is to be able to change the colour of the calendar when using emClient. Isn’t that just a local setting that doesn’t need to be synced as such?

No, ti is not local. Colour of calendar is its parameter and is synchronized over server.
You should be able to edit it in Outlook’s webmail without problem, but in external apps it is not currently supported.

Jan

Ok, thanks for explaining. I can change the colours on Outlook Webmail it’s just a shame that those choices aren’t used by eM Client which seems to choose default colours at random.

Thanks for all your work.

Regards

Hmm that makes me wonder. I have used some Beta Versions of emClient. With this, i can change the Color in emClient. The changed color wasnt synced to Outlook.com, but that was OK. But i could change it localy in emClient without any error. And this is what i want. Hopefully the fix will work this way.

It would be great, when emClient could use the Colors set in Outlook.com WebView automaticly, but this would be only a userwish

It would, problem is that this is not possible not by our choice, but by choice of Microsoft, they have designed Airsync protocol like that and we can’t do anything about it.

Any News regarding a Update on this Issue? Could someone point me to a beta with a Fix for this Issue?

Unfortunately all color codes are still just locally stored so no synchronization of calendar colors etc. is not yet available.
Sorry about this, I hope you understand.

Paul.

Yes i understand this and i expected this behaviour in this way. The problem is only the above error message for the case, I have changed the Colour of the calendar locally. In this case, eM Client try’s to sync this locally colour change back to Outlook.com, which fails naturally. Since i wish to use a local coloured calendar, I need the fix, so that the error message does not appear. I think the fix is in progress, but this was for 2 months I think

Hi, I understand your frustration, I’ll talk to the developers if there;s something that could be done about the error.

Thank you for pointing this out,
Paul.

Many thx. If you need Testers for a Beta, please let me know. Since my profession is software testing, i think, i could help you a little bit.
