Can't sync calendar between desktop and laptop through outlook.com

Using EmClient either on laptop or on my desktop works perfectly with outlook.com (focus is on calendar). But when I install emClient on both, I get a mess:

  • new tasks from one computer are deleted when the other computer syncs.
  • tasks from outlook (directly edited online) appear on laptop (newer installation) but not on desktop.

I’ve tried or checked already: New installations, free licence each, same settings, win 10 in both (but had the same problems when I uses win 7 on the desktop before).

Please, help.

Could we please ask how are your accounts set up?

Are they both set up as Exchange? If they aren’t, it will be necessary to remove your account from eM Client and then set it up as an Exchange (! please note that deleting the account means that all locally stored data will be deleted).
After deleting the account, go to Tools -> Accounts -> New Account but skip the “Automatic Setup” option and in the “Mail” option click on the Exchange icon. Afterwards just enter your email address in both “Email address” and “User name” fields, enter the password and then be patient while eM Client is “Obtaining server configuration records”.

If both of your accounts are set up as Exchange already, we’ll ask you for more information. Are you getting any errors/messages?  If it is so, could you please post a screenshot of the messages/errors that the program displays and also the log from the tab Log in the Operations window (Menu->Tools->Operations)? Just select all with Ctrl+A and use Ctrl+V to copy it here. Also please include the number of the version that you use (Menu -> Help ->About).

Thanks for your reply.
I did as you recommended. When settinging up as exchange, I had to enter the server manually. I tried m.outlook.com, and so far it works.
Only problem: tasks that I enter on desktop, and then delete online or on laptop, aren’t deleted automaticlally on dektop after synching, they still show up. Repairing the folder seems to do it.

And something else: My birthday calender doesn’t show any more, both on desktop as on laptop, though online it’s there.

Any way to help that?

Thank you for the update. As for the tasks - do these tasks get deleted on the server when you delete them on laptop?

Birthdays don’t get displayed in calendars in eM Client, unless they were specifically created as events. You can view them in the sidebar Agenda if you use the options ‘Show upcoming birthday’ (available through Agenda settings)

tasks do get deleted on the server. (today, tasks that I insert on laptop don’t get deleted on laptop, when I delete them on desktop, and vice versa).

I couldn’t find it. So where do I find Agenda settings ot the option to show upcoming birthday?

Hello Stefan,

In this case, could you please go to Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Advanced -> Logging and turn on logging for ‘Exchange Web Services’ for the relevant account? Reproduce you problem (delete a task from the other device, manually refresh). Afterwards please go to a folder where the logs are saved (default location is C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\eM Client\Logs), choose the log that has ‘Exchange Web Services’ and relevant date in its name and send it to [email protected] with a link to this thread (and the name of the task that you’ve deleted). We’ll examine the issue and will be able to advise further.

You can open the Agenda setting by clicking on the cog wheel that appears when your cursor is on the ‘Agenda’ title.
