Just deleted and re-added an IMAP account that was having trouble syncing.
Downloaded and deleted thousands of emails from the Junk Mail, and Trash folders. Played a game of tag by logging on the same account using the ISP’s webmail account and bulk deleting Inbox mails starting from the oldest, one screen (50 mails) at a time. This proved very effective and pretty soon eM Client had completing syncing the last year or so of Inbox messages, and about 6 months’ Sent items.
I just can’t completely empty the Deleted Items though. There are 91 mails there that just won’t die. I can highlight and [Shift]-[Del] and the folder appears briefly empty, then suddenly they reappear. Right-click and Empty Folder - same result. Highlight (all or in small groups or one at a time) - drag to Drafts - same result (except they remain duplicated in Drafts. I can permanently delete from Drafts though).
The webmail interface shows the Trash folder as empty.
I updated eM Client from 10.0.30-something to 10.1.40-something and no change.
Right-click - Properties - Repair - [Repair] did not change anything.
I just can’t completely empty the Deleted Items though.
As there is no deleted items showing in your webmail, then will be a local database problem and it needs manual repairing via a dos prompt or terminal prompt.
First close eM Client.
Then if you have Windows see @Gary post in the following thread.
If you have a Mac do the following.
Close eM Client first and then “open the Terminal app via either Launchpad or Utilities” on the Mac. Then Paste and run the following command.
I updated eM Client from 10.0.30-something to 10.1.40-something and no change.
Lastly if you originally downloaded eM Client via the eM Client page, there is also now “newer eM Client versions available” via the release history page you can update to once fixed.
If you do update, close eM Client before updating. Also make a backup before updating incase you need to restore for any reason via “Menu / Backup”. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh top left.
Sorry to report the dbrepair did not help - it ran as expected, bringing up the “client was not properly closed last time” screen, but after it was complete, there the zombie messages still are and still behaving the same.
I checked, and the client version is the latest shown on the release history page.
