When I first move an email to a subfolder, I can’t open a PDF attachment in this email.
It just doesn’t respond. Nor by double clicking, nor by using the right mouse button.
When I open the PDF attachment directly in the inbox it works.
Then after moving the email to the subfolder, it still works.
When I move the email back to the inbox, after failing to open the PDF attachment from the subfolder, it also works. Then after moving the email back to the subfolder, it still works.
The account is an Exchange account
Automatically download messages for offline use is on
and is set to Full Messages with Attachments
Time period always
It also happens to other attachments sometimes
A similar topic was posted in 2015, but I thought that’s 9 years ago. Should be resolved by now

That just normally means the email and attachment hasn’t initially quite yet completed the move and is probably still eg: re-caching / syncing with the server mailbox same sub folder.
So suggest after you initially move the email with the attachment to wait say eg: 10secs and then see if you can open it in the sub folder.
If you still can’t you may need to completely clear your local eM Client cache by “repairing the account folders” or “removing and readding the account”. Also you may need to update eM Client if it was a known issue with an older version.
