I’m also having this issue, but as I use EM Client at work, I can’t just go around updating applications any old time I want to; as with most workplaces, we don’t have admin rights on our computers. I requested admin for a day specifically just to get EM Client, but they are certainly not going to let me have admin every time IE is updated (and if IE 11 does indeed require Windows 8, that will be a complete non-starter at my workplace). Am I really understanding this correctly, that the only way I can copy and paste between emails in EM Client is to always have the most current version of Internet Explorer? I feel like I must be misunderstanding this.
Hi Isaac, it is not needed to have the latest version of Internet Explorer (as you’ve pointed out some versions of Windows do not even support the latest version), but you need to make sure to have the latest available for your system. Unfortunately at this point eM Client still requires some of the application’s components in order to work as expected, features such as clipboard management may be affected.
If you do not have the very latest version but a recent release, the issue is usually mostly caused by the incorrect setup in IE’s options. As I suggested above, please check if you have the option “Allow programmatic clipboard access” set to enable. Even option such as “prompt” may cause issues.
Thank you for understanding,
Paul.
just totally absurd issue. EM CLIENT is a stand alone software… to be stealing code from IE to make your product work is ridiculous. I have used the BAT email for years… and it never was a problem doing control c, v etc… just one of those inane things EM can’t seem to do. This has been a problem for a long time! i paid for this, and it’s not unreasonable to expect some of the most basic commands, that have been in windows for 25 years to work…
i just made that setting change in ie and it still won’t work… can copy and paste anywhere else, just not this stupid email client, one of the places i need copy/paste most of all. this is insane, why did i pay a premium price for this POS?
copy and paste don’t work? Are you kidding me? http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/rexxx
works here… see? i can’t believe your product is so lame.
Hi Marty,
To be fair: eM Client is not ‘stealing’ code from Internet Explorer of course. It’s probably using some component which internally is using an ‘IE control’, which is made available by Microsoft for these kinds of things (showing websites / HTML pages inside another program).
eM Client is also using a database which is not developed by them. It’s a database which is used by thousands of other programs. This is just a ‘normal’, effective and legal way of developing software.
I think for most people [ctrl]+c and [ctrl]+v is working in eM Client. Most of the times it was also solved for people who mentioned issues with it in this forum.
And to call a product ‘lame’ if something isn’t working … a lot of things (even more difficult things) are working well.
Especially when using third party controls (like IE in this case), you don’t always have enough control over it … that’s why eM Client is investing a lot of resources to try to switch to another way of showing e-mails.
It’s Microsoft Edge now, does that break emclient?
I couldn’t find the programmatic access option in Microsoft Edge
I have the problem and I only have it in emclient.
