Cant copy folders with a period in their name to another account

I have two accounts set up each on a different server, and trying to copy folders across servers, works pretty good, until there is folder with period in the name. Then it reports there are unsupported characters? Why did it allow me to create them with that name then?

Generally you can’t use these characters in a folder name:

~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + = { } | [ ] \ : ” ; ‘ < > , . ? /

Some servers may allow some, but others won’t.

Thanks Gary, Yeah, that’s probably a good rule; on the second (destination) server I am able to create a folder called ‘name.with.period’, and then do a refresh, and it created a folder called ‘name’, with a sub-folder called ‘with’, which had a sub folder called ‘period’.

I’ll stay away from using any odd characters.

Yeah, that is a server naming convention.

So Inbox.Name means Name is a subfolder of Inbox.
