Can't change an email category

The category changing doesn’t work for me. I try to pass an email from “promotions” to “personnal”, I get the confirmation frame and I answer yes but the change is not done.

Yes Category changes work ok for me using Windows and Mac and on Mob Droid & iOS.

Is this changing Category issue with the Desktop app or the Mobile app ? Also did it ever work ?

Also what version of eM Client do you have ?

If you are using the desktop app, you can change Categories two ways. Have you tried both ways ?.

One way is to “drag the email to the Category want”, or “right click on the Subject” and select the Category Tabs and select the category you want. Either way you will normally get a prompt to confirm.

Sometimes it might then take a few seconds to confirm the Category changes depending on eg: if it’s checking mail or synchronising mail at the time. Mine usually takes around 5 secs. So could be you just need to wait a bit longer.

If you are changing Categories on the mobile app, I find that takes longer around 10secs even when it’s not checking or synching mail. I suspect that just needs more optimisation in the app.

I tried all the ways to do it, even a “quick action” I have created, and it didn’t make the job.
The category I tried to change yesterday is not changed yet today.

Yes if you are using eM Client V10 it probably needs certain elements of “min Windows 10” for Categories to work. So suggest you upgrade your OS including all the latest Win 10 22H2 OS patches which is also still supported by Microsoft till Oct 2025.

Or if you have a TPM supported CPU & Motherboard, suggest to upgrade to Windows 11 & the latest Win 11 22H3 OS patches which also works with eM Client V10 & Categories.

Note: Windows 8.1 also ended security updates in January 2023 so not advisable to run that anymore. Best to upgrade your OS.

Finally it works for gmails because with this account, the catgories columns are already displayed. For the other account there was only “primary” and “other” (“Primaire” et “Autre” en français because I am french). If i show the other categories column, I can display a “promotions” email in the primary column by a odd way that I don’t take thetime to explain here.
