Can't activate because can't deactivate

Hi all,
Here’s the situation…
My old machine is done. Can’t boot. Nothing. I have installed eM on my new machine but can’t activate it due to the install on the dead machine. Of course, I can’t deactivate the dead install. I don’t know what to do.

  • Pro license for 2 installs (my wife has the other), unlimited upgrades.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Marty, I deactivated your older activations for you, so you should be able to activate now!
But this is exactly what our License Manager is for: https://licensemanager.emclient.com
You can manage your license, including remote deactivation.

Thank you very much for resetting my license. I had understood that the License Manager was only for business editions, so I apologize for having you do something I could have done myself.

I have basically the same problem. I have followed the procedure above but I am unable to deactivate the other two accounts (from previous laptops. They were deleted but not deactivated)
Any help would be appreciated. Also I cannot find my account number/activation code.

Hi Don, the type of license matters in this context.
Old Pro and current Business licenses need to be manually deactivated, since they might be used in office setting where the owner of the license wants just specific devices activated.
In such cases, when the max number of devices is reached, older ones need to be deactivated inside those devices or remotely via License manager if you want to activate new ones. Marty has a Business Pro license which needed this.

For you, Don, I found a Personal license - since this license is for one user (you), when you try to activate a new device, the oldest previous activation is deactivated automatically, so you don’t need access to the License manager to activate another device.
Or if you specifically need to deactivate these, you can ask our Support team for help. But having the old devices activated will not stop you from being able to activate new ones.
Free licenses work the same way, but those are for 1 device, so activating on a new one will automatically deactivate the previous one.

You can get your license key resent via this page if you lost it: Lost Activation Key | eM Client

Thanks Olivia. That worked like a charm and I am back now receiving my emails. Thanks.
