I was using EM Client just fine, then it notified me there was a newer version and i let it self upgrade, but somewhere during that (i think) my laptop rebooted for other reasons. So EM Client wont’ start. I downloaded and ran the installer again, it offered to “Repair” and i pressed the repair button, it then said it did repair everything successfully and database had no corruptions. Then again i try to start the client and get a error “the application cannot start because the database of this computer was modified by a newer version of this application” It offers to get the later version and i let it, but then when the “newer” version tries to install, it says that I’m already on the latest version and there’s nothing to install. and then the everything goes away, and same thing happens again if i try to open the client. So what do i do now? i’d hate to have to uninstall it and lose all my settings plus the long sync :-( Anyone have ideas?

what version did you have prior to this update? Was is version 6 or 7?

I didn’t look at the version. But I downloaded it form your website (windows version) on Oct 14th. so whatever version was there on that day. (i’ve only been using this software for a week) Does that help?

Issue resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version.
The startup function had wrong access to the installed version number.
Reinstalling will never remove your database files, so it’s a safe option to try.
Hopefully this will help other users with similar problem in the future.
