Cannot send pictures from eMclient

Hi,
Can you help me? If I attach a picture file to an email I am unable to send it. I am using Gmail. I can log directly into Gmail, create the message, add the picture file then send it OK. The latest I tried was only 1.8Mb in size. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Barrie…

Any error messages you can share?

What image type and size is the image.

The message I get is:

[SMTP] An attempt to connect to [email protected] failed. This could be caused by temporary server unavailability or incorrect settings. Do you want to check the settings?

My broadband is slow at 1.5Mbps average but I did not get this problem before the last couple of upgrades. I am a very basic user and only use it to read mail and store ones I want to keep in local folders. I have left most settings just as installed.
The file I was sending was 1.6MB MP4 file but it does the same with JPGs.
Thanks for your help.

What are your SMTP mail tab settings in eM Client. Click “Menu / Accounts”.

Hi,
SMTP tab settings are:

Host: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Security policy: Force usage of SSL/TLS

Let me know if there is anything else you need, it would be great to get this fixed.

Ok that SMTP Gmail setting looks fine.

Do you have an optional Antivirus email scanning enabled, Or optional Firewall programs installed.

Hi,
I am running windows 10 but have Avast Free Antivirus installed. From what I can tell Windows provides the firewall and Avast does all the virus checking.
Avast under Protection.Core Shields has a File Shield - scans any file added or opened on your PC, Behaviour Shield - warns if any application behaves suspiciously, Web Shield - blocks web attacks & unsafe downloads and Mail Shield - blocks dangerous email attachments.
I assumed the email shield was for emails that I download rather than sending.

Temporarily stop Avast and see if that helps

Yes Avast email scanning as @sunriseal advised could be delaying the outgoing email and causing the problem.

I have gone into Avast and turned off the Core Mailshield and the file was transmitted. Turned it on again and picture file did not get transmitted. I found I could look at Mailshield settings and I turned off its scanning of outgoing emails.
Sending an attached file still seemed to work but the entry in the Outbox stayed there for a very long time. It did eventually go but the person I sent it to had already replied saying they had received it before the Outbox showed as empty.
