I cannot save attachment of the received emails. It always saves empty file (file size is 0 bytes). I’m using latest version of eM client connected to MS Exchange server. I tried to uninstall and install again and it did not help. When I use outlook web access (OWA) the attachment is present and is nonzero size.
Hi Martin, what version of eM Client are you currently using? How did you setup the account, did you use the automatic setup, are you using your Exchange account using the Exchange web services protocol? Are there any errors displayed while trying to save the attachment?
Thank you,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
I’m using the today’s version (6.0.21040.0), running on Windows 8.1. I used automatic account setup, using Exchange web services.
In the server field is something like ``` https://mail.company.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
When I try to open txt attachment it opens notepad, but it is empty, when I try to save the attachment it saves empty file (file size is 0) although it displays in the email view correct non-zero size of the attachment.
I will try to setup the account again and give a message.
Hi again Martin,
can you please navigate to Tools > Settings > Advanced and turn on Exchange Web Services logging for the problematic account?
- Save the settings
- Restart the application
- Replicate the issue
When the issue occurs, please go back to the advanced settings window and click on “Send logs” and send the logs to my email [email protected] with a reference link to this forum topic.
Hope this helps,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
I sent the logs as requested to your email.
As I mentioned I tried to setup the account again. I backed up the “Storage” folder, than deleted the account and tried to create it again without success. It always displayed that server has been found, but my credentials are bad. I had to use the backup to make the account working again. Initially I created the account in some of the previous version (about 26 days ago).
Thanks for the support
martin
Hi again Martin, there’s no need to reinstall/delete the account, thank you for the received log files, I’ve submitted the data to the developers for more information, I’ll keep you posted as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Paul.
Any progress concerning this issue? Saved attachments are still empty files.
Thanks
martin
I have the same problem, how can we solve?(Em Client Pro)
Hi Martin, I’m sorry for the belated response, however the issue is still under reviewal with the developers, I’ll keep you posted once I have more information about this problem.
In the meantime you can try to install this update, http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.21273/setup.msi and check if the issue persists.
Hope this helps,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
I tried the update, but it has still the same behaviour.
Just now I discovered that I cannot download only attachment containing the diff file that sends subversion when I commit to the repository. If the message contains picture (*.png) or (*.jar) file it is working well. So I took the same attachment (commit.diff) that I’m not able to open in eM client, but it is possible to open with MS outlook client, and sent it to my email account again from the google mail and now I can open the attachment even it is exactly the same file as the one I previously could not download.
So it is very strange, but maybe the problem is on the sender side, although the MS Outlook has no problems.
Anyway, thank you for the support.
martin
I just discovered that this issue is connected with the rules, that I have created to move the incoming message to another folder. When there is no rule created attachment can be saved/opened without problems. But as soon as I create a rule, that moves message with an attachment that moves the message to some folder, message itself is moved, but attachment cannot be saved/opened - the file is always empty.
Hi Martin, are you using “Download messages for offline use” option for the selected account?
If not can you please try to enable this option for your inbox or the folder you’re moving the messages from, also please enable the option “including attachments”. To enable this option for a single folder rather than your whole account, right click the folder and select Properties > Offline, to enable these options.
Try to use the application with your setup rule and check if the attachments are downloaded and then available for viewing.
Hope this helps,
Paul.
