Cannot get emails after changing BT Login password

I was required by BT to change the login password for my BT account.
I could see missing messages from the BT site, but nothing from Em Client
I then altered the eM Client password (SMS ??) but still no eM Client messages.
What have I not understood

Well, Yippee!
30 minutes later I received an email on em Client asking me to “confirm your new account”.
I did, and am receiving and sending emails again.
