I am using the Free Version and my gmail account works fine. However, I cannot seem to establish a connection with my sbcglobal account. I verified the settings with ATT and they are correct.
Any ideas?

please, try to select “Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)” option (in Server section) at both SMTP and POP3 tab of your problematic account settings. Did this help?
