I have used the theme editor to adjust a few colours in email lists to improve my visual experience.
However I can’t see an option in theme editor to change the colour of a selected email (currently light blue). It is the same colour used for selected items in many eM Client lists, which makes me think it is a more global setting in the app (see screenshots).
I am using a recent M4 iMac with MacOS 27. I changed the highlight colour in the Mac’s Settings app, but that didn’t change the colour of selected items in a list (as opposed to selected text) in eM Client.
If you want to change the highlight colour when you click the email message, go to “Menu / Tools / Theme Editor” and click on “Main form / Datagrid” on the left, and change both the colours in “FocuseditemBackgroundStart” and FocuseditemBackgroundEnd".
Then once you select your email message highlight colour, “Save that Theme in a folder on your Harddisk” in eg: “Documents / eM Client” via the dropdown arrow on the right of Save.
Next once your Theme is saved, “Close the theme editor” and go to “Menu / Settings / Appearance / Themes” and at the very bottom of Themes “click Import Theme” and select your saved theme which will then show “at the very bottom of the Themes”.
Then click “Apply” and “Save & Close” and your email message highlight colour should be changed to what you want.
