Old and new is for reasons of compatibility. It would certainly be useful at the moment to have this facility. I know that the registry update is not designed to “damage” my PC, but please appreciate some companies will not allow registry updates. My IT department will not. I have had to move back to another free email client, and it works fine.
I understand the predicament, but other email clients do work for SMTP and IMAP. Technically I think you could support both OAUTH versions for both protocols. We could wait months for a MS fix. I hope it doesn’t come to that.
Yes, they only use the older form of oAuth. So we provided you with a fix so that eM Client will use that also, regardless of what Microsoft say they support. And that is the cause of the issue. They say they support the modern version, but they broke it so it is supported for IMAP but not SMTP. That won’t work.
An option would be preferable to a registry update, that is all I am saying. Then eMC would support all OAUTH versions out of the box.
Not clear how to use the full Exchange connection option under emClient accounts on an iMac desktop?

To setup for an exchange account, see the following eM Client support page example, which has both the Automatic and Manual account setups. Works the same for PC and Mac.
I had this problem too, and doing what Gary suggests solved it. There’s no knowing how long it will take Microsoft to react.
