I bought a new PC the day before yesterday. I had made a backup of eM Client on my old PC and saved it to an external drive. Yesterday I put that backup on my new PC. Everything seemed fine until I noticed I couldn’t send or receive emails. Does anyone know a solution for this problem? Thanks in advance.

Check if it’s activated via “Menu / Help / Licence”.
If its not activated, then insert your current eM Client licence key and activate it. If you don’t have your licence, you can go to the following webpage to resend it to your webmail.
If it is already activated and your eM Client backup restored ok and your mail settings look identical as the old PC via “Menu / Accounts”, then you could possibly have a eg,: optionally installed firewall / security program or optionally installed antivirus program or vpn blocking the mail client on your new pc.
So if you new PC has anything installed like the above “other than what comes default with the OS”, try completely disabling those to test.
Now if you don’t have any optional installed programs like that on your new pc, then update “who hosts your mail” and “what type of mail account you have” eg: POP, IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account. Also what are your incoming and outgoing mail server settings.
Hello,
Thanks for your quick reply. I tried the things you suggested, but still nothing. I’ve now added the same account (email address, password, and settings), and I can receive and send emails with it. Strange.
I now have two identical accounts on one eMClient. My old messages are on the first one, and my new messages are on the second.

Great that you got it going now.

You can either “drag old messages” from your old account singularly or in a group to your new working account same mail folders.
Or you can select old messages singularly or in a group and then “right click” and select “Move to Folder”. Then select the same mail account folder in your new working mail account.
Once you are then certain the old messages are all in your new working account, then remove the old mail account via “Menu / Accounts”.
Note: Before doing anything, make a manual backup first via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh.
Hello,
Thanks for the great help. I now have all my emails in the new account. Are you sure that if I delete the old (first) account, my new email account will still work?
Thanks in advance, and have a nice evening.
Walter

Yes as they are two different accounts, normally removing one “doesn’t affect the other one” from my own experience of using eM Client.
Just “make a backup eM Client first though” via “Menu / Backup” before you remove the old account". If you then have any problem, you can then easily restore via “Menu / File / Restore”.
