Calender

Not associated with primary (default) email account. Err or message: The calender you selected does not belong to this CalDAV account or isn’t a folder. Please select an appropriate folder.

Hi Dennis, not completely sure what you’re referring to, does this message occur when you try to select a primary calendar account to one of your e-mail accounts? I believe this can occur when you try to select the account in the list instead of selecting the calendar folder (e.g. specific calendar of that account).

Please try to select one of existing calendars and you should be able to setup the default calendar.

Hope this helps,
Paul

No it does not unfortunately. The response is too generic. I need a calendar associated with my primary account. Please provide step by step directions.

Hi Dennis, please navigate to Tools > Accounts > Your problematic account > And select the Calendar folder from the displayed list, instead of selecting the root folder (e.g. [email protected]), select one of the calendar folder of the calendar account (one of the subfolders).

Regards,
Paul

Okay

First off so far I love this alternative to outlook!!!  So far so good and this is probably a dumb mistake but I have this same problem.  Do I need a gmail account to get a calendar?  I have no calendar and am trying to select what I think is a default calendar and I get this error message everytime some sends me an invite.  I can add appointments, invite people, etc but I can not accept appointments without first going through a bunch of error messages.

Hi Amy, you can use the local calendar for accepting invite, just navigate to your account settings in Tools > Accounts, and setup the default calendar, task and contacts folder to one of your local folders.

Hope this helps,
Paul

I had already done this for contacts with success. Here’s the error when I select what appears to be the default calendar for EM. But should I be typing the actual path?

Hi again Amy, seems like this is a different issue, Dennis who posted the original question had an issue with an account that does not include a calendar service, as I can see on the screenshot, your account does include a calendar service.

Why did you try to setup the Local calendar account as the default calendar?

Are you able to save invites to the local/web calendar using your current setting?

Thank you,
Paul

The calendar seems to be working now when I manually make appointments.  When I receive calendar invitations I get the same exact error message that’s listed at the top. “Not associated with primary (default) email account. Err or message: The calender you selected does not belong to this CalDAV account or isn’t a folder. Please select an appropriate folder”

Hi again Amy, sorry for my belated reply, can you please send me an email to [email protected] with a reference link to this forum topic?

Thank you,
Paul

I am having the exact issue Amy is: “Not associated with primary (default) email account. Err or message: The calender you selected does not belong to this CalDAV account or isn’t a folder. Please select an appropriate folder”

Is there a way to set my default calendar as the local calendar for an imap account?

Hello Kenny, can you please proceed with what I suggested to Amy? Navigate to your account settings and make sure to select the default calendar folder for your mail account in the calendar service settings or below IMAP, in order to accept and save invites using this email address.

I never did resolve this issue, I just don’t accept invites using eM Client.  The error message when I tried to select default calendar is same as print screen above.

I am having a similar issue. My setup is the following:

  • My primary work email is with Go Daddy and does not have a calendar associated with it. I’ve set the email up and it works great in Em Client
  • Since we also use Google calendar at work, I have an account with gmail that uses my work email only (and thus doesn’t have an @gmail account) but allows me to have a calendar associated with my work email. I have set this up as a second calendar only account in Em Client. It works great in the sense that my calendar now shows all my events.

Now here’s my problem - Whenever I get an email with an invite to my email, I get the same error message as everyone else when I try to select the calendar I want “The folder you selected doesn’t belong to this CalDAV account or isn’t an event folder. Please select an appropriate folder.” Basically, it seems like my work email hosted on Go Daddy can’t link with the work calendar hosted on Google calendar through Em Client, even though both work independently just fine.

Would love to hear your suggestions as to a fix. Also showing you my setup below
