Bug with Shortcut for Move to Folder

Using the latest build, 10.4.4185 on Mac…and appears a bug has been introduced.

I used a keyboard shortcut of D to open the Move to Folder dialog window. What’s now broken is when multiple emails are selected, the D deselects those emails, and navigates to the first email with a D in the From field, and THEN opens the Move to Folder dialogue for that single email it finds.

Anyone seen something similar?

Using the right click Move to Folder, seems to work ok, but def isn’t ideal.

Same version, just did a big “Move to…” a few hours ago, no such problem. However, my shortcut might be a home-made one, I wouldn’t remember. Could your shortcut conflict with another one, maybe one that was introduced with this new v.? Keyboard shortcuts can be customised in the Settings.

So I have found the issue - this only occurs when my inbox is sorted by From. When sorted by Received, it’s totally fine.

I’ve used this shortcut for years, it’s nothing new. The From sorting is what has changed, and I hope it can be fixed in an update.

What happens if you set the shortcut back to M ?

Using the M shortcut also fails in the ‘From’ sort, as the M will go find and select the first email from an ‘M’ name.

Was hoping the latest update would fix, but no luck. Something changed so that the ‘From’ sort unfortunately, and it has really slowed me down.

Pressing M whether setting filter “From or Received” finds the same folders for me personally using 4 different IMAP accounts using the latest V10.4.4293 for Mac.

What happens “if you type more than one or two characters” in the folder name after pressing M ? Does it then find your folder setting the filter From

I am experiencing the same problem, same diagnosis. Sorting by received date in ascending or descending order fixes the problem. Otherwise, when I press ‘M’:

  • the email I had selected for moving is deselected
  • whichever message is sent from an M is selected instead
  • the newly (wrong) selected message is moved when I proceed with the move

If you are unlucky enough that the two emails are on the same screen, there is no jump in the message list, and the user could easily miss this bug.

Now I have to figure out how many emails I rely on for discussion tracking is in the wrong folder. Hopefully not too many. I track every thread / discussion with its own folder, so I’m admittedly an extreme case, still, this bug is really annoying.
