Hi everyone,
for the past three days, we have had a problem where some emails sent from eM Client appear blank in Outlook Classic for Windows. Only the attachments are visible, while the message text is missing.
The issue affects both eM Client 4.42 and eM Client 10.4.0.0, so it does not seem to be related to one specific eM Client version.
Our Exchange provider is currently using Exchange Server version 15.2.2562.45. The problem was unknown to us before and only started around three days ago.
The same emails are readable in Outlook Web. If the message is sent again from Outlook Web, it is also displayed correctly in Outlook Classic.
I can provide the eM Client team with example emails showing one affected message and one working message for comparison. The problem appeared suddenly and is reproducable and three PCs are affected. New installations as old ones.
Has anyone else noticed this recently?
I compared the source code of the affected email when sent from eM Client (not readable for anyone with MS Outlook) and when sent from MS Outlook (same content but readable)
I compared an affected email with a working one. The message text is still present, but the HTML structure of the affected email appears to be malformed.
There seems to be an Outlook-specific conditional section at the beginning of the message that is not closed correctly. Outlook Classic may therefore treat the remaining email body as hidden content. This would explain why only the attachments are shown, while the same email is readable in Outlook Web.
I cannot yet confirm whether this malformed HTML is created by eM Client itself or during processing by the Exchange server.
