I am a big fan of emClient. But the fact that i have to run Thunderbird as well when I want to deep search my email is quite frustrating and resource intense.
I prefer emClient for signature management/ sync, and other things - but the search is worse than Gmail search (which is why I left Gmail)
I get quite frustrated at this sometimes.
The search in Thunderbird is amazing, powerful and full of amazing features.
I would love to see that type of thing in emClient! Please.
relevance search (not by bloody date!)
filtering results by names, dates etc
searching within search results to reduce scrolling
These features of TB are great. I would go there but I have learnt all the shortcuts of this and TB would take some tinkering to get right too!
Thanks Tony. I do use this box sometimes in EmClient and it helps filter a bit… but the relevance tool in TB is way better.
Put it this way. I search with a few words in EC I don’t find the message. I open TB and use the same few words, I find the message within a few minutes.
It is usually one of the top 5 messages I find in the results.
Sometimes longer, ie. further down - but usually I find things there.
And by the way, it would be good if not all search criteria always had to be met (AND), but only one of several criteria (OR).
For example, I need a search folder for all emails: unread OR flagged OR a certain age of the email.
Curious, what is the “relevance” search tool? Will it find messages without you needing to use exact keywords? Say you can’t find the emailed receipt for a hotel because the name is “Lodge by the Lake” and you have been searching for “hotel receipt” but relevance search successfully finds the email with the receipt because it hones in on “invoice” being similar to “receipt” and “lodge” for “hotel”?
I personally do find all my IMAP account messages using eM Client V10 “after typing on a few letters” just like Thunderbird. Could be the emails are not all cached locally as yet.
Eg: If it want to find all my emails on eg: rental properties i type rent or rental “in the main search field” on the right of All folders, and all those specific emails come up within a 5-10 secs.
I select “All Folders” in the search field on the left, and select “Subject. sender, recipient’s, body, notes and attachments” on the search criteria. I also use “Use server search if available”.
