Hi eM Client:
I have used eM client for a number of years and now have a daily backup file which is far too large, at just under 10 GB: it takes too long to run, and too long to transfer to external media.
The obvious answer is
- to back up only the current (i.e. non archived) emails daily
- to archive emails from the current emails monthly, say anything more than 6 months old
- and then to back up current emails and the archive separately, only when each changes, i.e. current emails daily, and archive monthly.
As far as I can tell, the above is not possible, since the backup design is all or nothing, i.e. current + archive emails have to be backed up at the same time, and to the same back-up zip file.
Is this correct ? If so:
- is there any other solution to the problem of excessively large backup files ?
- and/ or might you redesign the archiving and back-up functionaility to fix the problem at source ?
I look forward to your reply. Regards,
JH
