Why has emClient been designed to backup on launch? In my experience, this creates a situation where you try to launch the client but nothing happens, and you only know that it is backing up by seeing it in task manager.
There’s no popup or progress window to tell you what’s happening, and no notification that it’s done! Sometimes, especially if the backup has not run in a while, this goes on for 10-15 minutes. You have to keep a task manager window open and notice when the process has stopped, then try to launch the client again.
The easiest thing to do is to cancel your automatic Backup
Close an restart eMC
Re-enable your backup based on your working hours, a good
idea is to re-enable Backup about 30 mins before you shut
down for the day as the time of setup will be the default
Backup run time.
Also if you have computing skills you can edit the start
time in Windows Task Scheduler…
DO NOT do this unless you know what you are doing

so, that means that if emClient is not running during the backup run time as determined by the time when it was first enabled, it will attempt to run it at the next startup, correct?
If so, this does not fix the problem of not using the client for multi-day vacation stretches, which is what got me to post about this today.
Windows Task Scheduler does allow programs to be launched without intervention to carry out a task, that would be a solution if the PC was left on most of the time. In fact that’s how I run my usual data backups.
Another, I’m guessing, would be to add a step into the backup routine where a popup asks you if you would like to run backup now or later, rather than running on launch and preventing all use of the client for several minutes.
