I was very pleased to see the progress with eM Client 11 and I was keen to try it out. I recently downloaded a beta version (11.0108.0) and tested it on my secondary laptop. All seemed to work well at first and I was wondering whether Microsoft Graph support was already working happily. Next, I saw that the beta doesn’t yet automatically switch and we may need to manually re-add our account to test Graph support:
I tried adding my account again (still keeping the existing setup, hopefully not causing problems by doing this) and this time it came up with a message in a web browser. If I remember rightly regarding what I saw, it was the same as the first time I got eM Client set up a couple of years ago, where it said that an administrator needed to grant access.
Is this error likely to be because I went about it the wrong way, an issue to be resolved in a newer version of the beta, or that I am likely to need to speak to administrators again to permit eM Client to make a switch from EWS to Graph?
Could be not working with Graph yet as Microsoft haven’t officially started to disconnect EWS yet untill 1st October. Just a thought why Graph might not be working yet for a new account setup. Could be other non Microsoft EWS Servers might also be changing over closer to end of Sept.
Hello! On more strictly controlled servers, additional admin consent may be required. It can also happen that the required consent differs between EWS and Graph.
We’re currently tweaking our Graph implementation to request a more limited scope, which should hopefully reduce the need for admin consent. This improvement should be included in the next BETA update, planned for next week.

Yes, it could well be just that the servers are not ready for the switch yet. We’ll have to wait and see. My reason for testing the beta version now is to beat any last minute chaos if things don’t go smoothly, so that I know what to anticipate. Sounds like it is going to be major upheaval for Microsoft’s offerings…
That’s given me some hope, Olivia, if there are going to be some changes which may reduce the need for admin consent. Maybe it would be possible to have different levels of request (e.g. mail only, mail and calendars, etc.) to identify where the issue lies? Or maybe EWS vs. Graph is not as simple as that!
I’m dreading that admin consent will be needed again because it took them months when I made the switch to eM Client 9 from Postbox and there have been changes where the admins now are less helpful and inclined to just dismiss anything less usual. If it will be possible to change the requests eM Client makes and possible avoid the need for admin consent, that would really, really, really make my day!
