emClient is not the best email program. The software cannot handle file attachments with umlauts Ä/ä, Ö/ö, Ü/ü in the file attachments. The message “Mapi error” is then displayed. Change this, in the short term
Are those characters are in the file name ? or are they within / inside the attached document ?
Also how many emails do you receive or send with attachments like that ?
Also what version of eM Client are you using ?
I get a lot of emails from my lawer in Germany. Most (all?) contain Umlaute.
Since I have nothing better to atm I just tested it. Both, Umlaute in text as well as in the file name. They send and receive without a problem.
That problem might lie somewhere else.
This is v.9.2.2258
I haven’t encountered any issues like that myself. To be sure, I tested it explicitly but couldn’t reproduce any problems—everything worked fine with IMAP@ v10.1.4588. I also didn’t receive any error messages when sending or receiving emails.
Hello, in general we don’t block any special characters in messages or attachments, so in cases where an issue does arise, we need more details to find a solution.
What version of eM Client are you currently using? (menu>Help>About)
What is the origin of the message? Was it one you received or created (for example from an external app)?
Could you perhaps send us an example of this message saved as an EML file? (You can forward it as an attachment to [email protected])
Thank you.
