Aol emails dont work

When i attempt to add an aol account it doesn’t work.

I tried automatic setup but it says “The server was found, but authentication failed. Check the email address and password.”

I also attempted to click mail and click aol to do it that way but it doesn’t login. I know the details for the account are correct as I am able to login https://www.aol.com/ right now and the emails work on my phone as well.

Do you have 2-step verification set for your AOL account?

“If you’ve activated 2-step verification for your AOL account, you’ll need to generate and use an “app password” to access AOL Mail from these apps.”
