Hello, I’m having trouble sending some attachments.
Can anyone tell me what might be causing this?

Under Settings > Email Composer, I have the setting “Add as normal attachment”

Sometimes that can happen if you eg: have a larger attachment that exceeds your SMTP server allowance.

So if you have a cloud drive such as Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox, Nextcloud etc you can optionally send file attachments via your cloud storage instead. See eM Client blog link.

If sending the file attachment “then sends ok via your cloud drive” then check with your SMTP mail server technical support on their sending limit.

Or “if your file attachment doesn’t exceed your SMTP sending server limit”, then sometimes attachments might have problems sending if you eg: have a resident program optionally installed possibly interfering like an Antivirus program scanning your outgoing mail delaying mail.

So if you have anything like that installed “other than what comes default with your OS” try completely disabling to test incase of interference.

Hello, thank you for your reply.
The attachments aren’t too large; I’ve already checked that (some attachments are only 300kb).
I’ve disabled my virus scanner, and that doesn’t help either.
The current situation is that 80% of the attachments are delivered and 20% aren’t. That’s annoying, since these are business emails.

The 20% attachments that aren’t delivered, are they any specific attachment type ?

Also do the emails that are not delivered just stay in your Outbox, or do they send but bounce backwith an error ?

Also what SMTP mail server are you sending through ?

How fast is you upload sending speed ?

Are you using a VPN ?

only PDF and PNG/JPG

The attachments are visible in the outbox, but are not sent. For comparison, I check the webmail program; the attachments are not in the outbox there.

Also what SMTP mail server are you sending through ?
emka-m…l.st…de (Inonos)

How fast is you upload sending speed ?
20 Mbps

Are you using a VPN ? No

Ok when the messages with attachments don’t send in your outbox, click the dropdown on the right of Refresh and click “Show Operations” and click the “Log Tab” and look for any obvious error messages and paste them in this thread. We might then be able to see why they are not sending. Blank out anything personal in the error messages.

As soon as I send a file that doesn’t arrive, I’ll send the log. Thanks.

Ok carn’t really see anything wrong in that log snippet apart from “250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 5B6EB1403E2” where that normally means it confirms the mail server “has successfully accepted the email from the client and placed in the queue” and will attempt to deliver it but carn’t for some reason.

That may be a eg: SMTP Server problem or possibly some other SMTP Server setting needed. SMTP. These are the below SMTP Server settings you can use with eM Client.

Port 587 = Force usage of SSL/TLS
Port 465 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Port 25 = Use SSL/TLS if available

So if none of the above SMTP Server settings make any difference, then suggest then if you have a current active paid Pro, Personal or Business version to “copy the complete log” and go to the VIP support page and login and lodge a support ticket with the complete log to be investigated.
