All of my emails are being marked as important when they arrive in my inbox…how can i stop this?

Hello Ben,
this is a default Gmail setup.
The only way around it is to create a filter directly in Gmail webmail setting.

Go to mail Settings > Inbox  - disable Importance markers

Also create a new filter that will remove the Important label from every new message:

  1. Set up a new filter
  2. In the To: box put your email address
  3. tick “Never mark Important”.

I am having the same issue again:

your answer above worked great last time but this problem is back and i made sure my settings where change to disable important markers…any idea? thanks

It looks like when using GMail, even if you hide the importance markers, the messages are still marked important.  (Look for the “Important” folder.) You’ve got to either create a rule in eM to mark everything unimportant, or train GMail to stop marking things important by un-marking each sender.
