After Update, Huge Local Storage Issue

Hello. I’ve been using EM Client for about a year. After the last update got installed, all the content in the body of all messages in the Local Folders has disappeared. Sadly, I didn’t realize this problem until after 2 backups have run, which has now backed up all the empty messages. This is a real travesty for me since I extensively use the folder to organize messages.

Can anyone help?

To clarify: the headers remain, which is how I missed the problem until this morning

Have you tried dropping back to the prior update to see if that has any effect on the messages?

I’ll try anything at this point. If I can find the older version, I’ll install it. Thank you.

(2)Uninstall, WHEN ASKED DO NOT DELETE DATABASE
(3) Install the version of choice from https://www.emclient.com/release-history

No change after re-installing, but I was able to spend time digging. It’s interesting - the messages added to all Local Folders before around 9/10/2019 are intact. Those added from 9/11/2019 through 8/5/2020 are corrupt (subject line intact, msg body totally missing). Those added from 8/6 to today are ok. Not sure what could cause this to happen.

I also searched through the 2 backups I have. Unfortunately, they were made too recently and therefore also contain the blank msgs.

Did you reinstall the same version or did you drop back to a prior version?

Back 1 version. Should I try the current version?

I was hoping you could go back to the version that would be immediately prior to the version you are referencing that “got installed”.

Sorry for the complexity of the request but you never mentioned ACTUAL version numbers.

At some point you can try the current version, but I am trying to get a reference as to where you were “BEFORE THE LAST UPDATE”

I noticed the problem today and believed it occurred as the result of the last update wiping out everything. After researching older messages, I was able to identify the actual date range where the data got destroyed and now have no idea how the problem occurred or how it fixed itself early this month. I’ve tried 3 client versions. All the same. If there was a way to do a partial restore from emclient backups, I could go to 2-yr old backups and find the old data, but guess that isn’t possible.

I am not sure where one can go from here… I am still not sure what exactly happened.

Hopefully someone else will have ideas for you to execute.
