Hi there
I am still trying to come to terms with eM Client. I am still undecided to go for paid version. One of the main issues I have is when I try to add notes to a contact I am not able to type into the note section. When I put the cursor in the note section it jumps up like I am pressing the tab button on my keyboard. The only way I can do it is to create the note in notepad and copy and paste it into the note section of the contact.
I have attached two captures indicating what happened when I pressed “f” when the cursor was in the note section, when I do the “f” comes out in the contact name section
. Hope you can advise me how to do this.
Regards James
It may have to do with whether em Client in accessing your contacts in the cloud, say gmail contacts, or locally on your computer. I noticed I can’t edit my contacts when em client is getting my contacts from the gmail servers.
What box is checked in your contacts? Try editing a contact in Personal
I have not got a Personal folder but even if I try to edit a contact in the Local folder the error still occurs.
I carnt replicate that problem with adding notes using Local Notes or Cloud account notes using the latest V10 for Windows or Mac.
I would suggest to try first uninstalling eM Client and if you have Windows, “dont delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard. Then reinstall the latest eM Client from the release history page and see if that fixes it.
Failing that, if you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account suggest to next try creating a new database incase its a local database issue that possibly corrupted in some way, by “first closing eM Client” and then “going to the following hidden folder location” below and renaming eM Client to eg: eM Client-Old. Then reopen eM Client and setup as new and see if that fixes it.
(Windows hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”
(Mac Hidden hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\Library\Application Support\eM Client”
Also make sure you are using minimum Windows 10 or Mac Ventura with all the updates / patches, just incase you have an older OS which might then be a problem.
If you still have the same issue, then suggest to look at purchasing the program which has 12 months official support, where you can then login to the VIP support page and lodge a support ticket to get further assistance.
The version I have is later than the one showing on the release he which is 10.3.1738.0. I re-named that folder to old and restarted it to no avail.

eM Client 10.3 Service Update
- Fixed an issue with a license activation or deactivation after upgrading
- Other bug fixes
I have this one
I am a bit loathe to purchase a paid version at this stage if it can’t be fixed.
Where did you get V10.3.1808 from ? Could then be an issue with that later version.
That issue you are experiencing doesn’t happen for me or any of my friends with V10.3.1738 for Windows from the release history page, so suggest if you haven’t already tried, uninstall V10.3.1808 and delete that database and reinstall V10.3.1738 and see if that fixes it.
Googling this issue you are experiencing, if you also have enabled “enhanced pointer precision” under the Windows OS Mouse Pointer settings, it can sometimes cause the cursor to jump to different fields in any programs. So check that is not enabled.
Also check if the option is enabled in Windows OS Mouse Settings - “scroll interactive Windows by hovering over them”. If that is enabled, that can also sometimes cause cursors to jump to different fields in any programs. So suggest to disable that as well if its enabled.
