Is it possible to setup ActiveSync?
I have seen some posts on here say that it possible if you select Outlook. I am using Thexyz which is an ActiveSync service and these settings: https://www.thexyz.com/account/knowledgebase/1/Email-Server-Settings.html
Hello Perry,
From the link you posted, it doesn’t look like you need ActiveSync in order to use eM Client. Simply set this account up manually using the IMAP and SMTP SSL addresses and ports and it should work fine.

Maurice
True, it works with IMAP/POP okay. I was hoping to have contacts and calendar sync like I do with Outlook through ActiveSync.
Hello Perry,
We’re sorry, but ActiveSync unfortunately isn’t supported.
With apologies,
Maurice
Hey, Maurice, I’m confused now. eM Client synchronises my contacts and calendar with my outlook.com account, which I understand uses ActiveSync.
In the Accounts dialog box, there is a tab called “AirSync” which Wikipedia tells me is the original brand name for ActiveSync.
Have I misunderstood something?
Hello Steve,
We used to use AirSync before Microsoft started migrating their e-mail addresses to a new platform. Consequently, AirSync started having issues and the official setup for all Microsoft addresses is now via Exchange Web Services.

Maurice
Thank you, Maurice, for your reply.
Although it’s probably not important, I’m now even more confused, and I’m sorry to keep asking questions.
I “log in” to http://outlook.live.com to read my emails online, and my eM Client account is set up to use ‘smtp-mail.outlook.com’ and ‘imap-mail.outlook.com’ email servers.
1/ Bearing in mind that smtp and imap are only email protocols, what protocol does eM Client use to synchronise my Calendar and Contacts with the online versions at outlook.live.com?
2/ In the AirSync tab it does have ‘m.hotmail.com’ in the Server entry. If AirSync is no longer used, what is this tab for?
3/ Where are the server/username/etc entries held for whatever protocol is used to synchronise my Calendar and Contacts?
I just want to make sure I understand how to set up eM Client again properly if I have to in the future.
Thank you again,
Steve
Hello Steve,
Please don’t apologize for asking, we’re happy to answer your questions.
Since the Microsoft migration has occurred quite recently, the official set up still sets outlook accounts up as AirSync. Since there have been issues with this after the migration, we now recommend to manually set up
the accounts hosted by Microsoft as Exchange Web Services through Mail - Exchange Web Service in the New Account window.
Regards,
Maurice
Thanks, Maurice. So I assume that must be the one called “Exchange” with the “EX” icon (I was initially confused because it doesn’t say “Web Service” after “Exchange”).
Please don’t spend time replying unless I’ve got it wrong! :-)
Very best,
Steve
