OS: XP SP3, localization German, em Client Beta 2, version 7.1.30115.0
Today em Client told me I have only four days left to activate.
I had not been aware that it hadn’t been activated when I installed it.
Some days before I installed the beta, I was forced to completely remove em Client because of database corruption issue. So that may be the reason why it didn’t remember my key.
I pasted my key, which I purchased February 2017, into the activation dialog and got this error:
Während der Kommunikation mit dem Lizenzserver ist ein Fehler aufgetreten:
The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.
Hopefully this can be fixed before the temporary license runs out.
I’m having the same issue with mine. Tried to activate before cutoff but got the same error. I don’t think there were any database corruption issues with my install. have posted a separate chat but have seen no responses. Concerned that there have been no responses to this in 2 months.
I waited until version 7.0.30068.0 gave me the update prompt. Happened like 7 days ago.
When I had some spare time, I closed eM Client and copied the ‘eM Client’ folder in ‘ApplicationData’ ( ‘AppData’?, it’s ‘Anwendungsdaten’ on German XP) to another location so I could easily fall back.
Restarted eM Client and let it do its update. Was prompted to restart and accepted. The program MailClient.exe then tried to shut down but hung and after waiting a couple of minutes I had to kill the process.
After a reboot eM Client started without a hitch and has run fine in the last 3-4 days. The License dialog shows a registered pro version.
Edit: Although on the home page it says “… is optimized for Windows 7, 8, 10” I don’t get an error message when installing it under XP. So there seems to be _some_ support there.
