When I use Acronis TI to backup emclient, is it the case that the emclient automatic backup to the computer’s own internal drive is also being backed up? So that an Acronis backup will contain both its backup of my data and also emclient’s self backup, so my data is found twice in the Acronis TI file? My interest is in conserving external drive space and also backup time. There is no way to place the emclient backup onto an external hard drive, I presume. This is 20+ years of emails, so not a small backup quantity. In my TI backups, should I uncheck the file (name?) containing the emclient native backup, or is that a bad idea for some reason? Alternatively, I could backup to the external drive only the emclient native backup? What is the best process overall?
Unfortunately you can’t use external backup utilities to backup the eM Client database, unless eM Client is closed when the backup runs, and the utility makes a complete copy of the whole database folder on every backup. Incremental and differential backups won’t work.
Best option is to have eM Client make periodic backups, and if you want that in your Acronis backup, only backup that zip file.
