Account storage location

Hello.

I would like to know:

How does the transfer of accounts from eM Client Desktop (Tools - QR Export) work?

In particular, where is the account data (desktop and mobile) stored? Only locally and / or even centrally online at eM Client?

Thank you very much for the information.

How does the transfer of accounts from eM Client Desktop (Tools - QR Export) work?

When you use the QR Export, that transfers all your existing desktop account Settings, Signatures, Templates, Tags, etc “that you select” to your mobile app as per the eM Client QR Export Code documentation. It doesn’t transfer the actual emails, contacts, tasks or notes.

After you scan the QR code in the mobile app, the app will then setup adding your same desktop acct Settings etc, and then once completed, will start downloading and synching your server Emails, Calendar , Contacts , Tasks etc from your various online cloud accounts. So if you have a IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account, the mobile app will then be the same once synced / cached.

In particular, where is the account data (desktop and mobile) stored? Only locally and / or even centrally online at eM Client?

The desktop stores all email, calendar, contacts, tasks and notes locally in the following hidden folder database by default unless you change that on the desktop via “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Storage”

“Hidden mail database folder Windows”

“Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”

“Hidden mail database folder Mac”

“Users\yourusername\Library\Application Support\eM Client”

I have no idea where eM Client is stored on the Android or iOS devices, but i suspect it too will be in a hidden local folder somewhere.

Hello cyberzork,

Thank you very much for your information.

According to the description under the link, the data for export is uploaded in encrypted form and then deleted after 30 minutes.

So I’ll just have to trust eM Client on that .
