Account Access after Application Update Today 04/28/2025

I was prompted today to accept updates to em Client.
After I did, I cannot launch em Client.
When I attempt to launch em Client, I get the following notice:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

After booting my computer after its ten-hour repose, I was able to launch my beloved email application, eM Client.
I have ascertained that my current version is 10.3.1738.
This is consistent with an update that occurred yesterday (see above) and was formally announced today via email by eM Client.
I suspect that I did not allow my computer enough down-time for the update to take effect.
There was clearly no malice involved here.
I did learn a valuable lession going forward.
In the future whenever I get a pop-up message about updates, the first thing I am going to do is to take a screen shot of the notice.
That way I will possess some specific information with which to begin an intelligent colloquy if that is necessary.
Please consider this issue a “false alarm” and RESOLVED SATISFACTORILY.

Could this be the problem?

eM Client has a long-standing issue which I have reported. If you have a USB storage device plugged in when a eM Client install is occurring and you remove that device during the update, the error you received occurs. The workaround is to reinstall the updated version but not remove any USB storage devices during the install process.

John_A, no, that was not the case, But thanks for the “heads up” about that issue.
I’m super careful about removing the thumb drives.
A great way to lose lots and lots of past effort.
