I have been a multi-licensed user of eM Client for 2-3 years
As a long-time user of Apple Mail and PostBox, I was quite vocal and critical of the development team about the missing features that I believed hindered my productivity.
Licensing three devices with lifetime updates was an expensive investment, yet for the past few years, I found myself returning to Apple Mail and PostBox due to the absence of certain features. Furthermore, I felt that the development team disregarded customer feedback and failed to provide any updates or insights into their plans.
Things took a sudden turn a year ago. The developers introduced a forum where users could share and request ideas, and then vote on them. Last summer, version 10 was released, which included AI features that I believed were the most significant missing feature from the email client. At this point, eM Client was placing themselves on the market as a true competitor to everything else that was out there.
Over the past few months, there have been so many features added that it has had my head spinning. My biggest gripe was the lack of directional delete. That was just added. You can now add custom sounds when you send or receive mail. The amount of time to undo a send has been extended. These are all things that I wanted to see added, and I am elated to see they were.
Of course, my gains are not everyone else’s gains. There will always be a never-ending list of requests from eM Client users of things they want added — especially those users who have migrated from PostBox. However, reading the latest announcement regarding the new version 10 Beta, it’s obvious to see that the developers have been attempting to meet those requests.
This email client was a costly investment for me, but I had to trust the developers that they would keep improving it. They’ve done just that, and I no longer use Apple Mail. On the mobile side, I use eM Client on both my iPhone and iPad instead of the stock mail app. I do think there’s room for improvement, especially in terms of overall speed, but after seeing the improvements on the desktop side, I’m willing to give them more time to develop the mobile clients. I also appreciate that we’re getting these apps for free.
