Hello !
I havew a question, How does emClient support 2-step authentication? Does a window appear with support for QR codes from popular applications such as One time Password or Google Authenticator? Is there an instructional video on how to enable it in the email program?
Best regards: Zbiku
Does a window appear with support for QR codes from popular applications such as One time Password or Google Authenticator?
No a window doesn’t appear for you to manually enter 2FA details when adding an account.
You setup 2step (2FA) authentication in your online account. Thats just an extra layer of security to stop peeps getting into your online account “but is separate from adding your account into eM Client”. If you need help setting up 2step authentication in your online account, “contact your online mailbox technical support” via website or phone.
As far as 2step goes, I personally prefer using authenticator apps as they give random codes, rather than just verifying to your mobile number via sms, but thats up to you whichever you prefer. I have both SMS and Authenticator apps enabled in my online accounts as a backup just incase.
When you setup a eg: Google, Microsoft or Yahoo type IMAP account via the automatic account wizard near the end you will only just get prompted to give eM Client access to your account to access Mail, Calendar etc where it then uses an OAuth 2 password-less token for security.
To setup your account automatically in eM Client go to “Menu / Accounts” and click “Add Account” and follow the automatic account wizard. Now if your provider doesn’t support the automatic setup (most now do), then you click “Add Account / Mail / Other” where you can alt setup either an IMAP or POP account which you will then need your incoming and outgoing server details etc.
