I was having issues with the 10.0.3266 upgrade the only way I could get new email was to restart my computer. I just applied the 10.0.3447 upgrade and now my emClient won’t open at all. I tried doing a repair and now it says I am misssing a file. Missing file is filCACalrL5h93ZyxqqxEdXat61BGK in MailClient.cab. I am assuming that I am up a creek as I can’t even open the program.
This can happen when you use some cleaner utility to clear space or optimize the Windows Registry on your device. Those files are needed by the Windows Installer Service, so it can install/uninstall/repair apps on the device, but these utilities delete the files and break the Windows Installer Service.
Please go to this page: Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed - Microsoft Support
Follow the instructions to fix the issue. When that is done, try the eM Client install again.
I have not used a cleaner app but gave this a try. Still no joy. Thanks for trying to help.
As the MS Fix problems tool still didn’t work as @Gary advised above to try, and you still can’t get into eM Client, then if you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud (Non POP) accounts and had nothing in eM Client Local Folders, then just rename the current eM Client hidden folder to eg: eM Client-Old and then open eM Client and setup as new. All your acct email will then sync back from the server.
eM Client Hidden database folders by default for Windows and Mac are in the below locations.
“Hidden mail database folder Windows”
“Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”
“Hidden mail database folder Mac”
“Users\yourusername\Library\Application Support\eM Client”
Note:- If eM Client still won’t open after renaming the hidden database, uninstall eM Client and then redownload the latest V10 via the release history page and reinstall and try again.
Or after renaming the hidden database folder as above, when you open eM Client and the account wizard open, “cancel the setup wizard” and then if you have been making regular eM Client backups either automatically via the “Settings / General / Backup” or manually via “Menu / Backup”, you can alternatively just restore a recent dated backup via “Menu / File / Restore”.
I’m having the same issue as the original poster. I also tried Gary’s suggested fix and it didn’t help. Any more ideas?
