Windows 10 updated it self last night.  All was well when she went to bed.  This morning all her saved pop3 emails are gone.  The trash shows 8832 unread messages but when you show properties on the folder there is 8832 unread messages but 0 message in folder.   All of her folders are this way.  All email seems to be missing except what is new on the webserver.  Is there anyway to find or get back the missing email?

If you enabled Backup: http://bit.ly/2Vuuwoa
you can restore your Mails from there …
Good luck and a nice Day

Unfortunately the backup option was not turned on.  I found a copy of the data in shadow explorer but when i attempt to replace the local folders data in ‘appdata\roaming\emclient\localfolders’ it says its corrupt and tries to repair the database then fails that also.

Do you know if the data is truly corrupted or if there is something more i need to replace other than just the appdata info.   I have tried replacing the full ‘appdata\roaming\emclient’ folder and just the local folders both which have the same issue.

I can post screen shots of the errors later if that would help once i have access again on the computer to continue troubleshooting.

This is the error log after replacing the appdata Roaming Em Client folder.  https://bit.ly/327p8cV

This is the error after the Database checker with the same files from above.   https://bit.ly/2nCNAnx

Shadow copies, or backups made using online syncing applications like Dropbox, Carbonite etc. will not work with eM Client. All you end up with is a folder full of empty database files.

One thing you could have tried before you copied unusable data over your database would have been to do a manual database repair. Unfortunately now that you have replaced the original data that is no longer an option.

But there might be a solution depending on what form of update Windows did. Sometimes your data will be saved in a folder called C:\Windows.old. Please see my recent comment on how to recover eM Client data from that folder if it exists.

If you are using POP3, backups are essential.
