Swipe to delete in unified inbox permanently deletes emails instead of moving to Trash (Android)

When using the swipe-left gesture to delete an email in the unified inbox (Favorite Folders > All Inboxes), the message is permanently deleted instead of being moved to the Trash folder of the respective account.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the unified inbox (All Inboxes) containing multiple IMAP accounts
  2. Swipe left on any email to delete it
  3. The email disappears and does not appear in the Trash folder of the corresponding account

Expected behavior: The email should be moved to the Trash folder of the account it belongs to, just like it does when deleting from an individual account’s inbox.

Actual behavior: The email is permanently deleted. It does not appear in any Trash folder.

Workaround: Deleting emails from an individual account’s inbox works correctly — the message is properly moved to that account’s Trash folder.

Environment:

  • eM Client for Android (latest version from Google Play)
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
  • Multiple 1&1 (IONOS) IMAP accounts
  • Swipe action is set to “Delete” (not “Permanently delete”)
  • Trash folder is correctly mapped to “Trash” in IMAP settings for all accounts
